Catherine's Community Closet ("The Closet") started in 1986 with an epiphany in my walk-in closet. I realized that not-for-profits, businesses, and community members needed items for charitable events and entertaining.
Since my spouse Bob and I entertained quite a bit, we had many items that could be used to start our mission. It was in 2010 when my grandmother, Catherin De Matte Flaim, passed away and left me an inheritance to "continue to do good."
With these funds, I had immensely built up inventory at which time Plymouth Place in LaGrange, IL graciously donated two cottages in 2014 to store our products and meet with clients.
